A printed card with a scan code. The customer points their phone camera at it and lands on your Google review box.
2Send the link
One short link that does the same thing. Ready-written texts and an email to send it with.
3Reply to every review
Five ready-written replies, from a glowing review to an unhappy one.
01The card
Leave one with every customer at the final walk-around. It is sized 4 by 6 inches, the same as a standard photo print, so any print shop can run it.
Your short link
copperjayroofing.example/review
The scan code and the link go to the same place: the box where a customer writes a Google review for your listing. No searching for the business first.
Why a short link
Google's own review link is long and hard to type. The short one fits on a card and is easy to say out loud. If your listing ever changes, we point the short link at the new one and every card you have already printed keeps working.
Print it yourself
The kit includes a page with two cards and cut marks for a home or office printer.
02Asking for the review
Ask once in person, then send one text. Swap in the words inside [square brackets]. Press Copy to copy a message.
Say it in person
At the final walk-around, while you hand over the card.
Thanks for having us out. If you were happy with the work, would you leave us a quick Google review? It really helps a small crew like ours. This card has a code you can scan with your phone camera, and it takes about a minute.
Text, same day
Send within a few hours of finishing, while the job is fresh.
Hi [First name], it's Marcus from Copperjay Roofing. Thanks again for having us out today. If you have a minute, a Google review would mean a lot to our crew: https://copperjayroofing.example/review
Follow-up text, 3 days later
Send once, only if they have not left a review. Then stop.
Hi [First name], Marcus from Copperjay here. Just checking that the roof is holding up well. If you get a minute, here is the review link again: https://copperjayroofing.example/review Either way, thank you for the work.
Email
For customers who prefer email, or sent along with the final invoice.
Subject: How did we do on your roof?
Hi [First name],
Thank you for choosing Copperjay Roofing for your [job, for example: roof repair]. We hope everything looks right and stays dry.
Would you take a minute to leave us a Google review? Reviews are how most of our neighbors find us, and we read every one.
Leave a review: https://copperjayroofing.example/review
If anything is not right, please reply to this email or call (813) 555-0142 first so we can fix it.
Thank you,
Marcus
Copperjay Roofing Co.
03Replying to reviews
A reply shows the next person reading that someone is paying attention. Change a detail or two so each one sounds like you.
A 5-star review with details
Mention one specific thing they said, so it is clearly written by a person.
Thank you, [First name]. We are glad the [repair / new roof] went smoothly and that the crew left your yard clean. It was a pleasure working on your home. Call us any time you need a hand.
5 stars, no words
Short is fine. Still reply.
Thank you for the five stars, [First name]. We appreciate you taking the time, and we are here if you ever need us.
A good review with one small complaint
Thank them, own the miss, say what you changed.
Thank you for the honest feedback, [First name]. We are glad you are happy with the roof, and you are right about [the issue]. We have talked with the crew so it does not happen again. We appreciate your business.
An unhappy review
Reply within two days. Stay calm, do not argue the details in public, and move it to a phone call.
[First name], thank you for telling us, and we are sorry your experience was not what you expected. This is not the standard we hold ourselves to. Please call Marcus directly at (813) 555-0142 so we can look at it and make it right.
A review from someone who was never a customer
Stay polite. Then report the review to Google from your listing.
Thank you for the note. We cannot find a job under this name in our records, and we would like to understand what happened. Please call our office at (813) 555-0142 so we can look into it.
04Five rules
Never offer anything in return. No discounts, gift cards, or prize draws for reviews. Google's rules forbid it and can remove your reviews.
Ask every customer. Our advice is to ask everyone, not only the ones you are sure were happy. A steady, honest mix reads as more believable.
Never write your own. No reviews from you, your crew, or family. They are easy to spot.
Reply to every review. Two sentences is enough. Aim to reply within two days.
Keep job details private. Never post a customer's address, price, or insurance details in a reply.
